Dr. Janelle Wierenga, Diplomate ACVECC
Dr. Janelle Wierenga received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University in 2003. Prior to this, Dr. Wierenga earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Wierenga complete an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Illinois in 2003, then completing a residency in small animal emergency and critical care medicine at the University of California, Davis in 2004 to 2007. As a resident at Davis, Dr. Wierenga served as chief resident during her third year of her residency. Dr. Wierenga brings to Seattle Veterinary Specialists special interest and experience in small animal emergency and critical care medicine including ventilator therapy, transfusion medicine and advance procedure techiniques. She is also trained and skilled in critical care management including intensive monitoring, care and treatment of critically ill patients. Dr. Wierenga has presented lectures on various topics including coagulation, environmental emergencies, emergency respiratory conditions and shock and fluid therapy and has participated in many graduate research projects with publications. Dr. Wierenga also has interest and experience as a trail veterinarian in various sled dog races.
