Dr. Rebekah Beam (Surgery Resident)

SVS is proud to welcome Dr. Rebekah Beam to the surgery department. Dr. Beam will be completing the 3rd year of her residency at SVS. She graduated from University of Missouri in 2006 and complete an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Michigan State University. She completed the first 2 years of her surgical residency at UC Davis. She had to move up to Seattle with her family and was not able to complete her residency in California. SVS has agreed to serve as her residency training program to finish her final year. The major responsibility of the resident is to receive, diagnose, operate upon, and carry out the postoperative management of surgical patients admitted to the SVS surgery department. These duties are performed under supervision of a board certified surgeon. The objective of this program is to provide the resident training, knowledge, and experience in the discipline of surgery through exposure to clinical surgery and teaching. This training will lead to clinical proficiency in surgery and should prepare the resident for academic teaching or clinical referral practice. The residency program is designed to fulfill the guidelines for residency training as established by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) and has been classified as "conforming" by the ACVS Residency Credentials Committee.
