Dr. Kristin Kirkby, MS, CCRT, Diplomate ACVS

Dr. Kirkby received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida in 2003. She then moved to Colorado for a small animal rotating internship and returned to the University of Florida for a combined small animal surgery residency/masters degree. She completed her residency in 2008 and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Following her residency, Dr. Kirkby remained at the University of Florida as a faculty member for 2 years while she pursed a PhD investigating the effects of low-level laser on tissue healing. Dr. Kirkby is also a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist and developed the University of Florida’s Rehabilitation and Fitness Center. She has lectured around the country, authored numerous journal articles, and received awards for research and communication skills. In 2010, she was awarded the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine Young Alumnus Award. Dr. Kirkby brings experience in both soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, including minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgeries, and believes strongly in the role of physical rehabilitation in managing surgical patients. After 20 years in the Florida heat, Dr. Kirkby is very excited to be in the beautiful and temperate Pacific Northwest. In her spare time, she enjoys running, yoga, triathlons, snow boarding, rock climbing and exploring the outdoors with her 3 dogs.
