Originally from rural New Mexico, Dr. Chamisa Herrera embraced the change of landscape when she chose the state of Washington for the first half of her veterinary education and the Midwest for the second. During her education, Dr. Herrera developed an interest in the epigenetics of cancer development and using epigenetic changes as biomarkers for early cancer detection as well as therapeutic intervention. She is committed to providing progressive, collaborative care for patients with cancer.
Dr. Herrera likes the outdoors and can often be found outside with her two dogs. Adventurous and not afraid to try new things, she has added skydiving and bungee jumping to her bucket list now that she is back in the Northwest.
