Full Time Technician in Surgery Department
Our surgery department is growing and we would like to add an additional technician to our team.
Main Responsibilities:
·Provide excellent patient and client care.
oTriage consultations and admit surgery patients while striving to meet the client’s expectations.
oPerform physical exams according to SVS procedures and protocols.
oMaintain accurate client and patient records.
oClient communication and education.
oCalculate and administer drug and fluid dosages.
oRadiograph procedures and positioning.
oDraw and periodically process laboratory samples.
oPrepare patients and assist with procedures including placing IV catheters, administering sedation, and inducing and monitoring anesthesia.
oPrepare for surgical procedures including patient and surgical suite preparation.
oSterile surgical assistance.
oCoordinate patient care to increase efficiency while upholding excellent nursing care standards.
oProvide in-patient treatments and after surgery care including proper bandaging techniques.
oEquipment sterilization.
oAssist the surgeons with tasks as needed.
oDemonstrate SVS core values of respect, compassion, integrity, ownership, success, and stewardship.
Required Experience and Skills:
·Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
·Understanding of proper handling and restraining practices
·Familiarity with sterile techniques and procedures
·Ability to uphold proper safety protocols.
·High degree of knowledge and comfort with anesthesia monitoring and practices
·Familiar and proficient with good radiology techniques
·Familiar and proficient with basic veterinary equipment, instruments and medications
·1 year experience as an LVT
Education:
·Required - 2-year degree by an accredited veterinary technician program, and have passed the VTNE, or have satisfied the prerequisites to challenge the VTNE (i.e. be qualified under the “Grandfather Clause”) and have passed the test.
Hours:
Full time (40 hours per week) weekdays, with rotating weekends on-call (average 1 weekend per month)
