Class material is designed for veterinary technicians.  There is no charge to attend this class in the SVS conference room.  This CE will be submitted to the veterinary board of governors for 4 hour of CE credit for veterinary technicians.

Our Speakers:

Donna M.Sisak, CVT, VTS (Anesthesia) is a 1991 graduate of Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, PA.  During her 23 years in the veterinary profession she has worked in small animal hospitals throughout Pennsylvania and as of 1991 has worked in the nursing department (general and intensive care) at the Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.  In 1995 she transferred to the anesthesia department of MJR-VHUP where she has been performing clinical anesthesia and overseeing veterinary students and veterinary nursing students during their anesthesia training.  Since 1995, Donna has been the Department Supervisor of the Harcum College students during their two week rotation of their three month practicum at MJR-VHUP.  She has been the recipient of the Veterinary Teaching Award for five consecutive years.  In addition to her teaching responsibilities at MJR-VHUP, she has taught the anesthesia portion of the pharmacology class at Harcum College from 2000 –spring 2008. In 2006, Donna has become a member of the Academy of Veterinary Anesthetists by passing the nationwide exam for the specialty of Anesthesia.  In the fall of 2007, Donna pursued her professional interests in the Pacific Northwest.  As of March 2008 she has become a member of the team at Seattle Veterinary Specialists in Kirkland, WA.  She is excited to be part of SVS and will continue with her focus on her specialty – anesthesia and teaching in addition to other areas of veterinary medicine - surgery and neurology.  Her lecture experience includes IVECCS, AAHA, NJVMA, and the Penn Conference.  Donna’s professional interests include teaching, pain management, sedation protocols, and respiratory physiology and disorders.

Laura Tautz-Hair, LVT, VTS (Emergency and Critical Care) is the veterinary technician manager, education coordinator, and an ICU technician for Seattle Veterinary Specialists.  Laura is a 1998 graduate of the veterinary technology program at Pierce College.  Her experience began in small animal practice in 1991.  In 1995 Laura began focusing on emergency and critical care.  In 2003 Laura became a member of the Academy of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Technicians.  Laura has also been an instructor of veterinary technology at PIMA medical institute, teaching anatomy and physiology, laboratory procedures, and pharmacology.  Laura contributed to the emergency chapter of the Veterinary Technicians Daily Reference Guide and contributes to the publications of the Washington State Association of Veterinary Technicians.  Laura has lectured locally, statewide (WSAVT/WSVMA conference), and nationally at the AVMA conference. Laura is also the program chair for the Washington State Association of Veterinary Technicians.
