Carolyn McKune, Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesiologists, received her DVM from Michigan State University in 2002. After spending a year in private practice, Dr. McKune spent a year teaching basic surgical procedures at Washington State University. During this year, she saw the growing need for structured perioperative analgesia, and opted to return to the academic setting for further training. She completed an internship in Small Animal Surgery and Medicine at Washington State University in 2005, and a residency in Anesthesia and Critical Patient Care in 2008 at the University of California, Davis.

Prior to becoming an independent consultant, Dr. McKune held the position of clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine (UFCVM). At UFCVM, Dr. McKune managed of a diverse group of anesthetists, including technicians, house officers, and students, as well as giving lectures in anesthesia to veterinary students.  She has taught continuing education courses around the country, authored book chapters, and published research in the areas of anesthesia and pain management.

In her spare time, Dr. McKune enjoys spending time with her year-old son, reading, and hiking.
