Internal Medicine

The Seattle Veterinary Specialists Internal Medicine service is a veterinary referral practice staffed by Dana Brooks, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM (Internal Medicine) and Matt Vaughan, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM (Internal Medicine). Internal medicine encompasses a wide range of disorders, including hormonal diseases, immune disorders, some types of cancer, intestinal, urinary and respiratory diseases and is devoted to the long term care of it's patients. The internal medicine doctors perform ultrasound and ultrasound guided minimally invasive procedures such as aspirates and biopsies, and is also experienced in endoscopic procedures involving the intestinal tract, respiratory tract, urogential tract, and nasal passages as well as retrieval of ingested foreign objects. The internal medicine service also offers minimally invasive procedures including tracheal and urethral stenting, LASER lithotripsy for the removal of bladder stones and LASER ablation of ectopic ureters. The internal medicine service works closely with the emergency service for consultations on difficult cases or transfers for ongoing care, and strives to give each patient individual care and compassion.
